It's a Beautiful Day

I had mentioned in my first blog entry that the title of said blog comes from a song I wrote back in fall of last year.

I was sort of playing around with a melody on the keys while Justin, Dave and I were in the chapel one sunny afternoon. This keyboard was an old faithful Roland home unit with a real nice piano/string sound. On any keyboard, this is essential. Just so you know.

Anyway, I was messing around on the ivories while Dave started to strut the strut he loved to strut. Those that know Dave know what I mean. It's kind of like a 1950's box office musical sort of strut that tells the viewer that everything is peachy keen in his world! The birds are singing. His girl loved the date and the flowers and wants to see him again. Oh, and Jesus is still on the throne and he's feelin' just fine about that right around now. So I went with that visual and rhythm and came up with this:

It's a Beautiful Day

Listen the bluebirds are singing
There's not a cloud in the sky
Mr. Ramon tips his hat as he walks on by

Children are laughing and playing
Grandma is baking a pie
Lemonade tastes so good and there's a reason why

Here's why

Because the sun came up this morning
And I'm alive!
And every breath I breathe I give it all
To You, Oh Lord
You're my reward
You make my heart to say
It's a Beautiful Day

You think that maybe I'm crazy
For singin' 'bout this like I do
But brother I know that I know Jesus made me new

Yeah

And this is the day He has made, man
And I will rejoice and be glad!
This is a day to be happy, not sad

Not sad

Because the sun came up this morning
And I'm alive!
And every breath I breathe I give it all
To you, oh Lord
You're my reward
You make my heart to say

It's a Beautiful Day

When you see Dave walking around Fraser with his Mr. Rogers sweater on doing the Musical Strut, tell him thanks. And then tell him to wear a helmet when he skateboards. Long story. Lots of stitches.

Ouch.

This is the day that the Lord has made! Rejoice!

Can't you smell Grandma's Pie?? Mmm Mmm!!
